![]() ![]() it's like getting pushed out of the theater and into the sun three minutes before the movie ends - it's jarring! Still great, but it ends too soon and we don't get that little space that we need as the audience to appreciate and celebrate what just happened. What we have now is like if you made Star Wars, but cut out the medal ceremony at the end. Honestly i'm happy to have the secondary characters' fates be left to my imagination, but it would have been nice to at least get a celebration and re-connection of our two Skogr protags. that wouldn't have been a terrific amount of labor, which is why i'm fairly sure it's just a creative choice (which i humbly disagree with) That's why my main critique is really about the failure to at least have one last conversation between iver and rook/alette/oddleif. it's a lot of work to write interactions for the several dozen characters that could be in play. I understand, i think, the decision to keep the ending short and to the point. Yes, even the animal house treatment would have been worth it I don't need an epilogue that flashes forward and then says "All was well", but knowing the intentions of the various characters would, I think, go a long way toward giving us some closure. Let me see Iver and Rook/Alette hug after getting through all this together! Let me talk to the party members and get an idea of what they'd like to do now that the danger is passed! Is Ludin planning on trying to become a better leader than his father? Does Alfrun think there is a chance for true peace between the Dredge and everyone else? Where does Ubin plan on scrivening next? Give me a chance to say what I'd like my Alette/Rook to do - marry their love interest? Lead or retire quietly? It was like there wasn't a proper denouement. ![]() But the last scene of the game being like "Oh it's Iver!" and then nothing was really hollow. ![]() Some of them give little glimpses of post-ending stuff, like Eyvind having created a godstone for Juno. I loved the shot of all of your remaining caravan members staring out at the ruined landscape (although, why is there the same amount of ruin if you never had to return to Arberrang as there was if you went back 4 times?), and I really loved the drawings during the credits. The only thing I would say wasn't explained very well was why so many people thought Eyvind and Juno's ultimate goal was to make one or the other of them a god.īut I do agree with you that the very end didn't feel emotionally satisfying. I actually was really pleased with how well the lore was explained and with the final choices, and I thought all of the plot threads tied together quite neatly. I don't think this ending was really comparable to ME3's - the game didn't lose all narrative coherence and present a brand new problem that went against the themes of the game and a deus ex machina solution at the last second. ![]()
